On Episode 240, we are continuing our journey through The History of Middle-earth series as we survey volume 7, The Treason of Isengard, which is the second of 4 volumes dealing with the textual history of The Lord of the Rings.

In this volume, we discover rejected plot points, first appearances of Saruman and the Balrog known as Durin’s Bane, and a deleted scene involving Gandalf rescuing a hobbit from Black Riders!
