After the epic span of Chapter 1, which culminated in the creation of The Two Trees of Valinor and introduced the juxtaposing natures of Elves and Men, Chapter 2 is something of an interlude, though one of great consequence. In it, we learn about the creation of the Dwarves, and the mysterious origins of other important creatures as well.
We also get a “behind the scenes” glimpse into the creative relationships of certain Valar.
The major events of Chapter 2 include:
– Aulë’s creation of the Dwarves & Ilúvatar’s Intervention Therein
– Yavanna Response to Aulë’s Secret Deeds
– Yavanna’s Collaboration With Manwë for the Protection of Her Creations, OR How The Ents Came To Be
