there is a way that the show runners could cover the whole three thousand years of the Second Age: Just have each season follow a different part of that age. Season one could follow the events and characters at the beginning of the Second Age, and the final season could be about the final years leading up to the Third Age. I was also thinking that it would be really cool to do it as a docudrama with actors and narration. But even in a live-action series they can and should use narration, whether it is voice-over or on-screen, or a combination of both. But this series should really be done in a more old-fashioned way, with a storyteller, actors, on-screen narration, maybe some animation and illustrations, and no CGI (or very little) CGI.
LOVE THIS – totally agree. It broke my brain to hear them say they were just going to compress 3000 years into a single point in time. I didn’t see that coming – seems like a failure of creativity and narrative imagination.
